The Garden Party in Rieterpark for the young and old
Parties have been celebrated in gardens since gardens first existed. During the last weekend of June, life outdoors is celebrated in the Rieterpark, too, as part of the “Gardens of the World” exhibition.
The park contains stalls and food stands that offer variety and sustenance. Musicians from the Zurich University of the Arts are dotted around playing concert music. The little ones will be thrilled by our children’s programme or the recital of a fairytale in Rebhäuschen cottage. A weekend of relaxing in the park, promenading and enjoying your surroundings.
Students of the Zurich University of the Arts are in charge of the supporting musical programme. Classical and contemporary pieces will be performed in a variety of configurations in selected park and museum locations. On both days, the concerts will take place at the top of and half past each hour, and last from 20 to 25 minutes.
Everything from sushi to burgers, burritos to bratwurst and homemade cakes to vegan sandwiches. Food stands around the Wesendonck Villa feature dishes from all over the world to help you recharge your batteries and treat yourself during the down times.
Handy items for the garden, jewellery and decorations, or simply something tasty to enjoy at home. Merchant stands spread out across the park boast treasures big and small, which you certainly won’t want to miss!

Sliding down a watering can, climbing and somersaulting down a wild anthill and listening in on fairytales from near and far. We’ve done our best to provide a diversified programme, even for our littlest guests.
Play pass:
A children’s programme play pass can be purchased for CHF 10.– in the museum’s ticket office or at the information desk located in front of the museum, as well as in the Quartiertreff. The play pass is valid for certain stops in and around the museum area and the Quartiertreff. Children receive a stamp inside their play pass for each stop they visit.
Free children’s programme:
Other children’s programme highlights are free and can be enjoyed even without a play pass.
Large watering can (water slide – please bring a change of clothes)
Wild anthill (playground apparatus in the gymnasium)
Fairytales from near and far (short fairytale recitals in the Rebhäuschen cottage Sat + Sun at 2, 3, 4, and 5 pm, space is limited, reservations not accepted)
The children’s programme will take place on both days from 2 to 6 pm in cooperation with the Quartiertreff Enge and the PurPur theatre.
"Brief tours of the “Gardens of the World” exhibition will take place every hour (each starting at half past the hour) during the museum’s opening hours.
Meeting point exhibition / 2nd sublevel, admission ticket required.
On both days, there will also be two short tours through the Rieterpark: one at 12:30 pm and another at 4:30 pm. The meeting point is in front of the museum, and the tour is free."
